Fandom: Gone with the Wind
Pairing, Characters: Rhett/Scarlett, Bonnie, Belle Watling
Author on LJ: none
Author's website: GWTW Fanfiction by JLT

Why this must be read:
This is an AU that begins just after Rhett has visited Belle Watling in the aftermath of Ashley's birthday and Scarlett's public disgrace. Scarlett gets jealous, and confronts Rhett. It's a nice fluffy (if these two could ever be considered fluffy!) piece, perfect for this terrible weather we're having.

This story is based more on the events of the film than those of the novel.

Hi! This is Maidenjedi; I previously spent some time here at [livejournal.com profile] crack_van reccing X-Files fanfic. I'm a little late with this month's offering of Gone with the Wind fanfic, but I hope you'll forgive me once you've seen what I have in store!

I'll wander over several genres for this, but let's start with a little femslash, shall we?

Fandom: Gone with the Wind
Pairing: Scarlett/Melanie
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] prillalar
Author's website: Fan Fiction by Halrloprillalar

Why this must be read:
One of the major themes that often goes unnoticed in GWTW is the grudging friendship between Scarlett and Melanie. In "Somebody's Darling," Halroloprillalar takes the idea of friendship and pushed the limit. Set at Tara after Scarlett has shot the Yankee deserter, Scarlett finds herself thinking of Ashley as Melanie kisses her.

This story captures the desperation from the novel, and Mitchell's tone comes through in Hal's words. It's a beautiful and dark look at how two women, loving one man, might come together in the hours before dawn.

3rd-Dec-2007 11:58 am "Frankly, my dear..." - a Gone with the Wind Overview
“Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm…” – Margaret Mitchell, Gone with the Wind

The classic story about a Southern belle and her conquests and trials, set in the most volatile of American settings – the Civil War. A Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, an Oscar-winning film (in what can arguably be called Hollywood’s best and brightest year), and several sequels and several million fans later….

Here's a soldier of the South who loves you, Scarlett. Wants to feel your arms around him, wants to carry the memory of your kisses into battle with him. Never mind about loving me, you're a woman sending a soldier to his death with a beautiful memory. Scarlett! Kiss me! Kiss me... once... )
