Ashes and Ashes and Second Hand Passion, by Lilith Morgana (NC17)

Fandom: HARRY POTTER
Pairing: McGonagall/Skeeter

Why this must be read:

One of the frustrations of the Harry Potter books is how the characters are limited by the books targeted audience: most of the adult characters are left undefined, their emotional and romantic lives not even hinted at. That is one reason why I can accept such a wide range of characterizations, and can happily rec this story, with a darker and more passionate Minerva McGonagall.

This story is about McGonagall, Rita Skeeter, history, and *want.* Or, as the author herself puts it: “Bondage, blood and pr0n.”

Rita glares back. Fuck. Minerva’s hunger, the one she hasn’t been capable of satiating, the one that is hid in deep wells but still ever-present, returns if it was gone. So many years they’ve done this and failed. Now every gaze is full, desperate, gluttonous for a touch. Minerva wishes to speak but her words are being captured by the shivering heat inside the room and she can barely breathe properly as she finds her wand, and the wand in turn finds its direction.

Innocent little plants transfigures into ribbons strong enough to prevent the escape of Rita Skeeter.

Minerva seals the windows and doors, too.
