Why this must be read:

I'm Daisee Chain, and I'm steering the Blake's 7 Crack Van for August.

In honour of David Jackson the actor who played Gan, and who sadly died a few days ago, I decided to make my first rec a Gan story. Sculpture is a quiet back story filling in gaps in Gan's history. The story is set post-season 1, so there's a major spoiler for events involving Gan. The writing is spare and clean, the style I prefer.

It explores love and loss in the lives of two very different but lonely men, and while there is despair, it is ultimately a story of unexpected friendship.

A friend just told me you'd recc'd my Gan story. I'm glad you did it now. I too was thinking of David Jackson this week.

I went through a phase of writing Gan stories. I felt that he was often overlooked as a character. I think the best ones were the one you picked here and What if Earth be but the Shadow of Heaven? (http://www.hermit.org/Blakes7/Library/DispStor.cgi?SR=8866&ST=0001&COUNT/)

I realise that I still haven't put 'A Scale of Violence,' which is about Gan and Soolin, onto the web. If I recover from the lurgi before I leave for Worldcon, I'll try and find it.

"A scale of violence" has now been uploaded along with several other Gan stories. The rest of my remaining B7 fiction should be up by the end of tomorrow. I'm indexing them as I go and there's quite a mixture of stuff. (Check out other writers as well as we're doing a batch of other B7 fic at the same time)

Some of the older ones have pretty bad writing technique, but then most of them were written a decade ago and I know a lot more about writing now!
