To be Hufflepuff by Ciircee (G)
Fandom: HARRY POTTER
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: (if applicable) N/A (as far as I know)
Author Website: Ciircee (Professors' Bookshelf)
Why this must be read: "Imagine being in Hufflepuff. I think I'd leave." says Draco. "Everyone says Hufflepuff are a load of duffers." says Hagrid. But yet, Ciircee has written a short, simple, gem of a story that celebrates the often dismissed and overlooked house. It does a great job of capturing the emotions and questions that first years might have about joining Hufflepuff, and how Hufflepuffs are aware of how they're perceived, but know and value different. It certainly made me rethink my impressions of the Hufflepuffs. It's a lovely, original look inside the house. The story takes form in a speech, which I feel is a bit awkward, but it works well enough. Check it out.
