Why this must be read:
This is a very enjoyable long story. I like a lot of Krisser's stories and found it difficult to choose one. Assignment in Brentby is a well told story, with nicely developed other characters besides Bodie and Doyle.
In Brentby a serial killer is active. Targeting homosexual men involved in an established relationship. Bodie and Doyle have to go undercover and establish a homosexual relationship to draw the killer out.
Bodie is a photographer taking up residence in Brentby while Doyle will be a visiting male model.
Doyle wanted the details on their part, "So what exactly is the assignment?"
Cowley took off his glasses and stared at his men pityingly, "Why, go to the town of Brentby, become an established homosexual couple and hope that someone tries to murder one of you." He paused and added since they seemed so addled, "Unsuccessfully murdered is preferred."

Bodie figured that this case could take between four to ten months from the time that Doyle arrived. In the three plus months that Bodie had lived here he had yet to cultivate any acquaintances thus far. It was part of his cover.

She watched as Bodie's face lit up, smiled, even laughed. He looked younger and very handsome. She studied the man that wrought the transformation. Ray Doyle, model. He was a pretty one and had the look of a heart breaker.

He turned Ray's head and claimed his lips. Cradling Doyle's head on his shoulder, he explored the open mouth, searching for what gave Ray the most pleasure. The taste quickly captured him and he plundered the moist warmth ravenously.

Why Bodie had to go all primal was puzzling but probably again due to the club making his partner so damn randy. He had been yanked hard against Bodie's body and they danced groin to groin until he had been ready to come out there on the dance floor.

Another story along this line, of undercover as a gay couple, was 'Masquerade'. Was very well written. Only they hated the assignment - then things went wrong, and then they discovered why they hated it so much. *gg* The lie was too close to the truth. Was full of UST.
