Here There Be by Kaylee (R)

Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] firesignwriter, but she's no longer in the fandom
Author Website: It's gone. At least it's not where I last looked for it. ::sniff::
Why this must be read:

It rocks. Like a giant rocking thing. Okay, so even non-DC fans know about Jason Todd, the second Robin, who was killed by popular vote of fans, right? Well, a lot of folks figure poor Jason got a bum deal, and there are any number of fics that portray possible futures that involve Jason alive.

This is one of my favorites :)

In Kaylee's Dracoverse, Jason survived the Joker's attack, but became estranged from Batman. He's still in Gotham, though, and he's carved out a nice little life for himself. Naturally, things go wrong and life moves on.

Kaylee wrote several stories in this 'verse, and numerous other excellent writers, such as [livejournal.com profile] heatherly and [livejournal.com profile] frito_kal joined in. Unfortunately, those stories are scattered across the Net and require some searching to find. But they're worth it for the interesting characters and fantastic writing.

I'm no Batman, but I get by. He was in turf that I finally knew better than he did, inside Gotham or not. I'd staked a claim to the Corner, as the denizens called this little cesspool, and I'd spent three years learning every nook and cranny. Bruce can't dedicate that much of his time here. He's got bigger fish to fry. Me, I get imported thugs that can't quite cut it in the rest of the city. Russian Mafia rejects running their weapons shops out of seedy bars, relics from some of the bigger criminal gangs whose bosses found their way to Arkham... that sorta thing. Vicious and brutal, and not many real high dollar thinkers. Just the place for a guy like me.

Hell or not, this area is mine. Bruce should know better than to think he can trespass with impunity. The Corner's off limits. Here there be dragons.

Well. 'Dragon,' at least.

Here There Be, Chapter One--For subsequent chapters, I'm afraid you need to replace the "one" in the URL with "two" through "five". Or click on stories at the top. Kaylee's Dracoverse stories are halfway down the page or so.
