Why this must be read:
I like "superhero in college" stories, and in this one Sam Guthrie tries to explore life outside Westchester and his work with the X-Men. This story focuses on Sam, Bobby, and Emma, and the other characters as they relate to them.

I have to admit that I'm not that familiar with the comic canon for Sam Guthrie, but all the characters ring true in general. This isn't a cheerful story of college fun; rather it's a more serious exploration of individual characters and also explores the issue of mutant prejudice against normals in a low-key way near the end.

(Cherry doesn't assign her stories ratings; I gave this one an R for violence and adult situations.)
