Why this must be read: I find it difficult to talk about this story without feeling the need to make large hand gestures. This is truly a remarkable story. I think there's a tendencey in fandom - if not every where else - to think that sex-centred stories are somehow devoid of plot/ meaning/ insight/ impact/ etc and this story shows how short-sighted that myth is, and how fraught with meaning sex really is. It's about sex as more than attraction, more than love, more than intimacy and desire, and how fucked up it all is. I don't care what pairing you're into, or whether you even get into slash at all, read it because it's a complete mind-fuck, and I think it's quite possibly the most powerful writing the fandom has ever produced.

Just to give a counterpoint to this rec -- the fact that this story is a complete mind-fuck is the primary reason I wouldn't rec this to any person not familiar with the show. Maayan is a gifted writer, but in this story, she portrays one of the characters as so screwed up, he's unrecognizable as the version we see on-screen. It's a powerful story, but probably not one for readers who prefer their fan fiction to reflect the characters as shown in canon.

Well I can't say that I see this Daneil not being THAT Daniel. Anyway I've never given much a shit for cannon for most things when it comes to writing a good trip. I loved this story. I just did. The way it was writen drew me in... it's plot kept me. Alpha Jack and a slightly messed Danny.

Agreed. I thought it was Daniel in three dimensions - the kind of complexity you can't portray in a television show but would surely have to be there.

I loved this story. I just did. The way it was writen drew me in... it's plot kept me.

I'm pleased to hear it. It's an excellent story and definitely worthy of accolades.
