Risk by Cathy Butterfield (PG)

Why this must be read: A legal thriller centering on Joe Dawson. The characters of Joe, Methos and Duncan are well developed and there are intriguing original characters. After Joe is found over the body of a headless corpse, an old friend of Methos's agrees to represent him. In the best tradition of Highlander, the events in the story have been shaped by relationships from the past. The use of music is extremely effective and the bar scenes are vibrant.

The story opens:

It was surprising it didn't happen more often, Joe mused.
All those bodies, over the years.
All that blood shed, over the millennia.
All those curious and suspicious policemen.
As the handcuffs clicked over his wrists...

I love this story, It's one I print out and give to friends I want to hook on Highlander and fan fiction in general. I formatted it for printing, like a zine.

I'm thrilled Cathy is writing more stories.

I also have this printed out. Bombadil, who runs the yahoo group FanFicPrint had formatted it. I really prefer reading long stories printed out.

The_hobbet is my Live Journal name but I'm Bombadil everywhere else :-) So glad you enjoyed my formatting. I have probably formatted hundreds of stories. But all the fics that are now being posted on Live Journals are a lot harder to work with :-( Fanfiction.net is also a bear to work with.
