Why this must be read:
First there's the mystery of what happened to Elrohir and then there's the angst of recovery. On the surface the plot looks to be the same as Jay's The Search but the two are completely different. In this one, the mystery is mostly after Elrohir is found.
There are a few odd canon hiccups in it, especially at the beginning but they can be forgiven given the quality of the writing. Each chapter is long enough to suck you in so it's impossible to stop reading.
There is really nothing to criticise about the writing - the POV always seems to naturally be the right one, the changing relationships between the characters are well done and the angst is so beautifully written.
