Why this must be read:
This longer fic explores what happened to River at the Academy, and the aftermath of what happened to her fellow students after she escaped. It also shows the very plausible growth of her relationship with Kaylee, something that strengthens her as she and the crew plot to free the other kids from the hands of blue. This fic pretty much has it all: action, romance, and good old-fashioned Firefly fun. Plus, there's an entire team of unstable psychic kids who don't exactly know what their social boundaries are, which makes for all kinds of hi-larious action.
