Breakdown by Indian Skimmer (NC-17)

Why this must be read: Batman has all the fancy gadgets, the money, the car. Yes, the CAR, with its still-warm hood and gleaming black armour-plating. But even Batman has bad days that don't involve almost certain death at the hands of The Joker or The Riddler. Sometimes he just needs a little help from a friend. So when the Batmobile breaks down, who's he going to call? And it's only right that he would be grateful for Superman's help, isn't it? Very, very grateful. Yes, I think you get the idea.

"It's not an ordinary car, Clark."

"You don't have Triple A?"

"Clark..."

"I can recommend a good mechanic."

"Clark..."

"Or you could ring your insurance."

"Clark!" That seemed to get through. "Are you going to help me, or should I call someone else?"

"Okay." Clark made a literally inhuman effort to control his giggles. "Or, well..." He stepped forward, crowding up against Bruce and stroking his hand down the smooth curve of the Batmobile's bonnet, "If you want I could just carry you both home?"

Explorer's not working for me tonight, so I'm commenting here.

Perfect!

Had my car make those strange sounds too many times, right before it died and refused to start again.

I loved the entire story, from the reason Batman was out that night, to the way he talked himself in calling Superman, on to the end.

Oh, and the, well you know, was pretty darn good, too.

Now I have to turn the heat down, it's suddenly VERY warm in here.

I just printed this out for the husband to read.

He skimmed the slash parr and died laughing over the rest.
