Why this must be read:
It's the entire West Wing staff of the early seasons, my two favorite FBI agents and Marguerite! How could I not?!
In the XF version of DC, this story follows "Three Words". In the Bartlet version, it comes before "17 People". In my world, it is the epitome of everything that is good and right in fanfiction. Marguerite brings the funny, the sad, the tender and the cruel; the characters remind me of all the many reasons why I fell for them in the first place.
This is, without a doubt, the way it should have been for two of my favorite shows.
Bartlet was not in the habit of standing up for guests, but one look at the heavily pregnant woman was enough to put him on his feet in an instant. She looked up at him gratefully when he ushered her to the loveseat, but she insisted on standing until he took the chair opposite her.
He already liked her. From the demure cut of her maternity suit, to the sweep of her rich, red hair, to the cross she wore at her throat, to the very strength of her military bearing, he liked her.
It was the guy with her that gave him the crawling willies.
