Why this vid kicks ass:
It used to be that vids were made using two VCRs and a very steady finger, and this vid is a glorious example of what a great vidder can do with this technique. It is perfectly timed (a much trickier feat using VCRs than using a computer), makes superior use of the shots provided in the show, particularly ones less often seen (something that VCR vidding, which more or less precluded effects, encouraged and seems to have mostly fallen by the wayside in these days of ready access to effects of our own), and is highly evocative the characters and their place in the universe. You feel just how fragile Mulder and Krycek are, both separately and together, in the face of all they confront.
And while you're the site, Krycek fans should check out Kay's (
keiko_kirin) vid to Scar by Gary Numan. It's one the best Krycek character studies I've ever seen.
