Once Upon a Furry Octopus, by skoosiepants (PG)
Fandom: STARGATE ATLANTIS
Pairing: Sheppard/McKay
Author on LJ:
skoosiepants
Author Website: Skoosie Pants
Why this should be read:
Sometimes I'll read a fic and it simply makes me happy. Happy about fandom, happy about my show, happy that I can come across stories like this on-line. As the title says, this fic is about a furry octopus. In Atlantis. A furry octopus named Ernie, who is not particularly bright. It's also also a story about the effect of Ernie on everyone in Atlantis, and how they have to deal with Ernie in their day-to-day lives. It's all just incredibly charming and funny. Fabulous entertainment!
“He is smart,” Radek stated proudly, setting his tray down next to John.
“He can fetch his squeaky ball,” Rodney countered dryly.
“Mine!” Ernie squawked.
“And seriously,” Rodney’s face scrunched up, “what exactly is the point of that voice box if all he says is ‘mine’?”
Radek ignored Rodney and slipped Ernie a purple sparkly pen he’d stolen from Elizabeth’s office. She would not miss it.
“Miiiinnne,” Ernie cooed, low and soft and melodious, petting the new pen with the tips of two tentacles.
Radek was sure that particular inflection meant, “I like you best.”
