Why this must be read:
I wanted to lighten and brighten the mood after so many severe or tragic meditations on the human condition and the loneliness of Power. This short and amusing little story has its own, legitimate place in my Cowley's anthology; this time the Old Man is alone, I mean without his favourite team but actually with an old friend of him, and spending a well earned week of rest and vacation in a lodge not far from a loch, the Loch Ness, as it seems, though it is not named in the text.
Wandering alone along the banks of the Loch Ness may lead you to all sorts of strange encounters and... No, no, it's not exactly what you were thinking...though ?
The piece is too short to allow much more comments or quotations; I gave you all you need to know. You may be surprised, however. There is a very nice twist at the end; well, actually there are two!
