Ain't Nothin' Like Regret by Latex (PG-13)

Fandom: X-MEN COMICVERSE
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: Not here, as far as I know.
Author Website: None as far as I know.

Why this must be read:

It's not often that authors of X-Men comicverse fanfiction attempt to replicate the feel of the comics themselves. If you've read them at their less stellar moments, you'll understand why not *g*. However, this story is one that does take on the tone of a Wolverine comic - and does it well, at that.

It's easy to see this tale of Logan's shady past sliding into canon. He finds out that an old friend isn't quite as dead as he thought she was, and is sent to track her down by people he'd rather not work with. Things don't end well.

Don't let the Original Female Character put you off - Alyssa Porter is no Mary Sue. Her past is dramatic, but no more so than seems to be compulsory for Marvel mutants everywhere. It was also good to see a story that remembered the comicverse bond between Logan and Rogue, something that doesn't get a lot of attention in fanfic.
