Author Website: All That You Can't Leave Behind
Why this must be read: It's a challenge to get H/D back after OoTP was published, and it's a thought that H/D is dead, but this story seems to have no problem. A moody and atmospheric piece, with pouring rain simply drenching the fic throughout, pent up sexual tension, and jaded characters, it's a beautifully crafted piece of writing. However, it's also very causal in style, making it easy to read. And adding on the flippant quips by Harry and Draco, the story isn't exactly what you call angsty and dark. It's a perfect balance of something in between.
The characterisation is also excellent. Harry isn't perfect, entirely good, or particularly forgiving. And he isn't the centre of Draco's existence and eventual redemption - if you can call it that. Whilst Draco is portrayed almost in-line with canon, which highly unusual in fanfiction. He's arrogance, uncaring, selfish and holds a grudge. Simply put, exactly how he should be. In fact, one of the main crux of the plot is Draco saving Harry, not once, but twice for his own gain.
"Because if you died, well. Who else would I manage to bicker and have unresolved sexual tension with?"
Go read. Enjoy.

And that's it from me. It was great talking about fics I love, although I realise I have a serious Harry/Draco bias. I hope that didn't put too many people out. I hope you enjoyed the fics. With that I hand you over to the next rec'er.
