Why this must be read: This is a brilliant take on resurrecting Buffy, quite different to the canonical course of events. It's in first person, which I'm not usually a big fan of in fanfic, but it's used really effectively in this; we learn things at the same time the viewpoint character does, which just works and works. Troll Princess has also come up with a strong plot, great twists, and some really spine-tingly angst. Highly readable.

I stumbled on this story years ago and loved it. It was nothing like anything else I had been reading. Buffy isn't always my favorite character, but in this fic I loved her. Definitely need to go reread now.

I know what you mean. I think Troll Princess is particularly good at taking a new slant on things, in all her fandoms.
