Why this must be read:

Sharp, incisive, gut-wrenching look at Zoe, and her choices, in the aftermath of the movie. This story is short but packs a powerful punch; it took my breath away when I first read it, and made me sob. To say more would be to spoil, but it concerns a topic that may be considered controversial, though I think everyone here is amazingly, heartbreakingly in character.

There had been an argument over the dinosaurs on the bridge. Zoe had said it weren’t Wash’s bridge any more, so it weren’t right for his things to be there.

Mal had stood firm on that - though Inara had seen how it had torn him up inside.

It’ll always be Wash’s, he’d said, no matter who sits here.

Zoe had turned on heel and left; left Mal and the dinosaurs alone on the bridge, her dark eyes shining, tears unshed.
