A Part of Me by Jess Riley (R)

Fandom: SENTINEL
Pairing: None
Author Website: Jess Riley
Why this must be read:

Jess writes amazing, angsty buddyfic, but my all time favorite has to be the Part of Me series. It's so easy to make kidfic saccharine-sweet, but Jess does a wonderful job of showing Jim's struggles to raise three-year-old Blair. What's interesting about this fic is Blair's past traumas, which force Jim into the unique challenge of trying to coax back Blair's exuberance and willfulness without going too far and turning him into a brat. The whole series is really splendid and well worth the read.

Damn, there it was again. Who the hell would be knocking at the door at six o'clock in the morning? Well whoever it was, was about to experience some serious pain. After spending the last thirty-six hours cracking a major drug ring, he was tired no, rephrase that, he was dead tired, and whoever was at the door was going to pay dearly.

He angrily heaved himself out of bed and stomped down the stairs to stand in front of the door. Not bothering to look through the peephole, he flung the door open and shouted, "Do you have any god damn idea of what time it is?" Surprised at the lack of intruder on the other side, the big man looked around... and then finally down.
