Why this must be read: I feel like I should say that I'm in no way reccing this simply because I beta-ed it. I fell in love with this story from the first draft that I read of it, and it is definitely one of the best pieces thatcassiee's written (at least in the Firefly fandom. If she wrote in another before I met her, I'm not aware of it).
The story takes place pre-series and tries to explain how Mal comes by his knowledge of Reavers given than no one is supposed to survive any encounters with them. It's raw, dark, and violent. Even better,cassiee gives us some Reaver characterization that spooky and very real. If you like Reavers, enjoy prequels, and appreciate richly drawn original characters, check this story out.
