College Life by Gretchen (R)
My name is Tazia and I'll be your Popslash driver for the month. I'm getting started a little late, my apologies. I’m pretty much a Timbertrick girl, so there will be a good amount of that in my recs for the month. Actually, I think it would be more appropriate to say that I’m a Chris girl, but I like him the most with Justin. I will try to put a little variety in it, but be prepared for lots of ChrisnJustin. Don’t look for any BSB, it’s not that I don’t like them, they just don’t interest me very much. I do like some crossovers, but all of them have been recced previously, so…….. And definitely no Britney. I didn’t like the girl from the beginning of her career, so I tend to avoid her at all costs. Oh, and Eminem might make an appearance or two, I’m not sure yet. That being said, I hope you enjoy this month’s ride.
Fandom: POPSLASH
Pairing: Chris/Justin

Why this must be read:
My first rec is really two in one, but the sequel is just as good as the first part. I love College Life because firstly, it’s well written, with a clean straight flow. The author doesn’t bother using long flowery words, and doesn’t get bogged down in description details. You can still see it in your head, but it’s not like reading the Lord of the Rings books either (No offense to Tolkein, I do love the books). Secondly, I love the fact that you get to see Chris and Justin’s relationship from the beginning, from the first time they think of each other in that way, to the first kiss and on down the line. There is something about the two of them falling in love with each other without all of the pressures and complications of being famous pop stars that just really tugs at my heartstrings, I don’t know how else to put it. There is also Lance/JC, which is usually a pairing that I can take or leave, but it’s written really well also. There are problems with each individual relationship, but the angst isn’t too heavy. The sequel, The Long Road Home, is just as absorbing, with a whole new set of problems for the guys and written just as well as College Life. They’re both rather long, but well worth the time it will take to read them. I don’t know if Gretchen is still in fandom, but if you like the fics, take a minute to drop her a line and let her know.
