11:54 am Anyone Else But You, by Zarah (NC17)
Fandom: BANDOM

Why this must be read: High school and college AUs are a huge trend in bandom, and this college AU is a good example of why. It's fun to play with guys who self-admittedly were complete dweebs in high school and never actually made it to college--Ryan Ross's single semester does not count. Zarah does as excellent job of imagining what each of the guys would be like if they were just everyday people trying to work their way through four years of undergrad. Zarah's major strengths are her ability to write friendships--and wow, the relationships between Ryan and Spencer, Jon and Brendon, will stay with you for a long time, and her gorgeous use of sensory detail to ground a fic in place and time. This is the perfect fic about boys being boys being boys with some homework and a couple of crappy jobs on the side.

10:42 pm Sincere Forms of Flattery by Christy S (PG)
Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: Damian Wayne, Chris Kent
Length: 420 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] angel_gidget
Author Website: Multifarious
Why this must be read:
Damian Wayne is a character I love to hate and Chris Kent is adorable when around Robins. Christy provides the perfect combination with this future fic. Her Damian voice is excellent and Chris has just the right amount of innocence and intelligence. A delightful glimpse at DC's fifth generation World's Finest.

11:25 pm On your horses, boys! by Jordan Mckenzie
Fandom: Magnificent Seven
Pairing: None - Chris and Ezra centric
Length: Novel length, 34 chapters
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author's website: Jordan Mckenzie's fiction archive.

Why this must be read:
I love what if scenarios that extend from the original episodes; and this is a great re-telling of the Season two episode Vendetta. The story deviates from the original script about 3/4 of the way through the episode and takes us on an involving ride.

Deprived of their original prey, the bad guys of the piece, the Nichols clan, make good on their threat of "excruciating" pain when Ezra sends them on a wild goose chase. The author fleshes out the personalities of the Nichols, both sons and mother. Mrs Nichols comes across as a true haridan, there is no regret or remorse here; and her sons are just as bad. They stop at nothing in their pursuit of retribution. Not only injuring Ezra and Chris, but terrorising the township as well. The townfolk who appear throughout the story become real characters and of course the rest of the Seven are there too, doing what they do best.
