Why this must be read: laylee, like out_there, is one of the few surviving veterans of what I think of as the second wave of Sports Night fandom – when the show went abroad, and into syndication, and was found by a new audience. Again like out_there, her interests have diverged, and RL has taken up far more than its fair share of time; but every so often she comes back and writes a Sports Night fic, that only serves to make us miss the good old days the more.

This, in a welcome break from the jackass!Casey which is currently in vogue in the fandom, is a sweet, affectionate portrait of pure friendship, and a love that finds expression in small acts of kindness and in simply being. It also pays homage to That Thing Danny Does With His Mouth, and that's never a bad thing in my book.
