"More Room" by Sleeps With Coyotes (NC-17)

Pairing: Duncan MacLeod/Methos
Why this must be read: Sleeps with Coyotes writes hard-hitting, thought-provoking stories that make you look at characters in new ways. This one is a Deliverance AU written from Methos's POV. Methos has left the dying mortal woman he loves to save the Immortal man he loves. There are some interesting twists, but don't worry - no one who enjoys hot m/m sex should be squicked.

Tucking the man's sword behind his back, Methos approached cautiously, purposefully making himself seem smaller and less threatening than even Adam Pierson. If his MacLeod was gone...

//I can handle the new one,// a quiet, almost desperate voice wheedled in the back of his thoughts, the part of him that refused to consider any possibility of ending it--their friendship, Mac's life. It was worse for knowing it was true--he could handle the new face of MacLeod...but not the way he was now. Not as Adam. Not as the harmless, defanged scholar he had presented as his public face for two thousand years. He could control Mac, but he'd have to let his own demons run loose, just a little, just enough to command respect by force of arm.

He couldn't keep Joe and be that man. Couldn't even hope to keep Alexa, and she had so little time left... A bad business, bad timing all around, but what could he do? Turn his back, let the man rampage unhindered, let him lose his head in some stupid brawl he'd never have tangled with in his right mind? Not an option.

It wouldn't even require the worst of him to keep MacLeod in check, he found himself considering as he came nearer. Duncan's eyes were still closed, still reeling from whatever had happened in the pool, so there was no help from that quarter--one look at those eyes would have told Methos all he needed to know about which side of the man was in control. If it was the darker side...

Methos fought the urge to laugh, uncertain whether the bitter contempt that underlay his amusement was for himself or Duncan. The Highlander's "dark side" just wasn't that dark. A little seduction, a picked fight here and there, an angry husband taking potshots at the man in the early dawn streets...small potatoes. If the supposedly-evil Duncan MacLeod ever ravaged a continent...then they could sit down at the table as equals and talk. It wouldn't be difficult to handle the man like this, truly...just as soon as they'd redefined the rules of their friendship. Mac was bigger and stronger, but Methos had been breaking men to his will since before there was a Clan MacLeod. He could have the Highlander down in less than a minute, and then the training could start. It wouldn't take long at all.

It would be easy.
