Why this must be read:

A great take on those 'Five Things' prompts that follows Dan's life and assorted kisses from hesitant and bitter to sweet and tender. This is one of those short pieces that hits just the right note at each stage until it leaves you breathless and awing at the end. I think kiss II packs the most punch, but it is kiss V that steals my heart and remains my favorite.


This is a challenge, and you know it, because she's glaring at you through the strands of brown hair that've come out of her perpetual ponytail, and her hands are in fists. You know what depends on winning this -- but you don't. You can only do what you can; and as it turns out, what you can do is apologize, stare at your feet, and leave.
