Why this must be read: Mildred took hold of the Batfamily and its relatives (such as Superman) in her Happyverse just like any witty, talented writer starting their own Batverse title, only without those pesky editorial mandates. Every single element of this fic makes me cheer, every time I reread it, from the sense made of canon's inconsistent characterization to the effervescent wittiness to the happy ending all around. Sometimes one just wants to see one's characters happy, you know?
All that, hot sex, Lois Lane being just as awesome as she should be, one of the best takes I've ever seen on Steph/Tim, and Wildcat and Alfred having tea. I love this story, and I think you will too.
Excerpt: "It seems he's greatly overestimated the strength and resilience of hyperdimensional magic trolls. And perhaps he was showing off a trifle. When the sirens fade and he can't see Stephanie he feels a short, sharp jolt of panic fueled by what he imagines Batman's look would be when he tells him that Robin got sucked into a magic troll dimension and is probably hopped up on troll dust at that very moment.
Then he sees her clinging to the roof of a police car. She rides it into the city, then shoots a grapple at the Metropolitan Tower. He waits at the top until she climbs it. When she gets to the top her hair is sticking to her neck and it's very hard not to press his face against it and inhale. It - Maybe just once.
