One End, Which Is Always Present by nokomis305 (PG-13)
Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: Babs/Steph (Batgirl I/Robin IV)
Author on LJ:

Author Website: http://nokomis305.livejournal.com
Why this must be read:
When I was first 'introduced' to Stephanie Brown, one of the characters she reminded me of was Barbara Gordon -- not as Barbara is now, as Oracle, but as she was as Batgirl, of much of what Barbara lost/discarded in becoming Oracle. I always wanted to see something in canon or fanfic that addressed those parallels directly.
This story does, and has a nifty adventure and a lovely iteration of the Batgirl/Robin OTP and is a time-travel story that doesn't make my head hurt. And both heroines are as vital, real, vibrant, and gorgeous as they should be.
This story will make you cheer happily, and sigh, and love them and Gotham that much more. That's why it must be read.
Excerpt: "Um, are you sure you know how to work that?" Steph asked. "I only ask because Batman would get pretty pissed with me if I let you plummet to a messy death."
"I know what I'm doing!" Batgirl said in a defensive tone Steph knew all too well.
"Okay," Steph replied, holding her hands wide. "Let's just go."
Batgirl didn't plummet to a messy death. Steph was glad, because she didn't particularly want to be responsible for irrevocably changing the future.
