Enough of Me by Trixie (NC-17)
Fandom: THE X FILES
Pairing: Mulder/Scully
Author on LJ: n/a
Author Website: Gossamer Archive
Why this must be read:
Trixie was one of the first authors I encountered when I began reading XF fic. I'm not ashamed to admit that I came for the smut. But I stayed for the wholehearted embrace of romance: love and sex and humour and beautifully captured moments. Enough of Me is a great twist on a first time story, as it begins the morning after. It's told from Mulder's POV and for me it's a great characterisation: just enough angst, but not overly guilt-ridden as so many authors seem to portray him. Managing to be both hot and sweet at once, this story is one of my absolute favourites, like chocolate ice cream for the 'shipper soul.
"Don't you know how rare it is, Mulder?"
"What?" Was that his voice? All breathless and drowsy from holding her so close?
"This. What we have." Their noses brushed and he suspected there were tears clogging her throat. "Do you think someone who's safe and warm to you comes along every day?"
"No. I know they don't." He wasn't even sure actual words escaped. He was lost in thought and emotion. He was safe to her? He was to her, exactly what she was to him? How the hell did he get that lucky?
