Borderlines: Sui Generis by Birgit Macx Stabler (T)

Fandom: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
Pairing: pre-Chris/Ezra
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Mag7
Why this must be read:

If I could only pick one reason to rec this fic then it would be because it turned an anti-slasher into a complete convert. This is the first fic in a series and is very much an AU, think ATF in space almost. The author has painted a wonderful image of a foreign land and a relationship that builds from necessity – despite the two men's attempts to fight it.

The first fic in the series is gen, and is a long plot-driven piece that grips you throughout. Chris is part of a team of law enforcers and having been kidnapped, wakes up with little knowledge of how he ended up on a foreign planet. Ezra is a criminal trying to get off the planet, and Chris has to grudgingly accept his help to get word back to his team. The rest of the series focuses more on the relationship between them, and I also highly recommend taking time to go through them all :)

I love this series -- I was going to rec it myself last month, but ran out of time. Great pick! They do have a livejournal, [livejournal.com profile] macx_larabee, but they only use it to post notices and fics to comms, the lj itself is empty.

This was one of the first of Macx and Larabee's stories that I read. The series is very well written with excellent world-building. These two are skilled writers and their alternate universes feel *real* - and are completely addicting.

Note re: Borderlines - the series is on 'hiatus' for the moment while the two concentrate on other projects. They do plan to return to this AU eventually. However, since there are about 35 stories in the series, you'll still have plenty to read.

Great rec! Thanks for the reminder - I'll have to re-read them all now.

PS: There is a Yahoo mailing list under the name of their CSI/M7 AU 'Denuo'.
