Candles of the Wicked by GM Atwater (PG-13ish)

Why this must be read:
There are a number Magnificent Seven authors out there whose fics could almost be professionally published westerns, and GM Atwater is one of them. A long, suspenseful story with an action-packed shoot-out at the finish, "Candles of the Wicked" offers a wonderful look at both Chris and JD in a fairly extreme situation. Buck is shot and nearly killed, and Chris and JD set out across the Southwest in search of vengeance, eventually running into more trouble than they can handle on their own (luckily, while they've been tracking the bad guys, Vin, Ezra, and the rest have been tracking them).
The bit where the rest of the Seven are tracking their missing two all across Arizona and Texas via saloon rumors ("one of them was tall and evil and dressed all in black, and the other one was tiny and insane!") is enough to make the whole fic worth it on its own.
