Overheard in New York by Kate Andrews (PG-13)
Fandom: HEROES
Pairing: Peter/Claire
Author on LJ:

Author Website: on del.icio.us
Why this must be read: I'm not gonna lie, I love this author. Her characterizations are always first-rate and she is able to sell things to me that if it were anyone else, I might squint at them a little funny, whereas on her, I find myself on board before I know what's happening to me.
Like Peter/Claire. I'm not opposed to it at all, I just don't see/look for the subtext on the show. This story sells it.
He shakes his head and smiles at her. "You're easily amused, I'll keep that in mind."
She keeps her amused, blue eyes on the rat as she tracks its fits-and-starts progress. "Yeah? For what?" She steps to the edge of the platform. Her lips are closed, but clear as anything he hears her voice say /It's never going to happen, so don't even picture it./
"For after we win and I show you the city." He feels like he should tell her he can hear her, but he hadn't been picking much up from her. It goes in and out, like a radio station as he's driving past.
She grins, looks down, then up at him through her lashes. /Kiss me/ she thinks, plain as day. /Kiss me. He's never going to kiss me. You're gross. Stop it. And he thinks you're--/
