Singing With the Radio by Lucy Hale (R)
Previously on Popslash: My self-introduction.
Today on Popslash: Singing With the Radio
Fandom: POPSLASH
Pairing Chris/Oz
Author on LJ:
lucyhale
Author Website: FuBitch Academy
Why this must be read:
He used to sing. Without even realizing it, he used to hum and warble and lilt along any music that may be playing, or sing over and over again whatever the last song was that he heard.
Singing With the Radio was one of the first crossovers I ever read, and it's still my absolute favorite of the bunch. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my original fandom, the one that introduced me to the rest of this crazy online world, and while I'm not as active in it as I used to be, nothing delights me more than when my old fandom and my new collide.
This fic takes two of my favorite characters from both fandoms, Chris and Oz, and weaves them together in a relationship that doesn't seem quite so improbable. Add in a healthy dose of Sunnydale hoo-ha, and you've got the makings of a beautiful (and well-written) story.
It's pretty long, novella length, and one that, when I start reading, I can never tear myself away from the computer. Lucy Hale is knowledgable about both fandoms and doesn't bend the characterization to fit the story.
To find out more about Buffy, read
ethrosdemon's equally amusing and well-informed primer. Now for the cast.
Main characters:
Chris. Counter-tenor and rather short fellow. Insane and amusing.
Oz. Guitar player, refugee from Sunnydale, werewolf. He's working on that last one.
Werewolfy Oz.
Supporting cast:
Justin and JC. Lovebird couple #1.
Joey and Lance. Lovebird couple #2
Buffy and Giles. Protagonist and her Watcher.
Willow and Tara. Lesbian witches. Willow and Oz were once a thing.
Xander and Anya. Average Joe and ex-demon.
Spike. The vampire without a point--at least, in this season of BtVS.

And thanks for using the cut tags - this seems like an appropriate entry to do so - but I'm going to ask that when people do, they leave the story link outside the tags.
Thanks!!

Ahaha! Now I feel like I should be calling you 'grasshopper' and making you spend long hours harnessing your chi. Anyway, I'm so excited for your recs -- and not just because you're using images and nothing makes me happier being able to look at pretty pictures of the boys -- but also because, dude, a whole month of AUs!
