Why this must be read: Tonks goes looking for her husband, and meets her destiny. This is a lovely glimpse at a character who got overlooked, even in canon. It makes her real, makes her a person, someone who died for a reason or at least for a cause.
Have you seen Remus?
Twice Tonks had asked, but she had yet to see him.
Her mind wanted to believe Harry and Aberforth; it told her to Apparate back to Teddy. In her heart, Tonks knew that she would not rest until she saw Remus for herself, saw him safe and warm.
He was duelling Dolohov, Aberforth had shouted. Out on the grounds, Harry had said.
Tonks ran through the dust, across the castle, down into the creeping summer darkness of the grounds. She sped past a Death Eater, flung a curse over her shoulder, pausing only long enough to see him fall. She had missed this, her work, blood throbbing in her temples as she became a weapon against the Dark -- Moody's best and favourite girl.
