Welcome to another month of The X Files recs from me, your giddy third-time driver for November. As the fandom is currently ablaze with news of the XF2 film finally being green-lit, and talk of it taking "the relationship between Mulder and Scully in unexpected directions," I thought it especially fitting that I had planned to rec post-The Truth fics this month. It's very exciting to think that by this time next year, we'll have a whole new world of canon to explore. Until then, on to the recs.

Why this must be read:

This is Anjou's take on 'how Mulder and Scully get William back'. It is gently and beautifully written, being neither overly optimistic nor overly bleak. I picked this first because its Hallowe'en theme blends nicely into the beginning of November. It is as little and as much as a story about love and family, with some telepathy, communicating with the dead, and spooning whilst talking about magnetite thrown in.

In the weeks since William was returned to them, Scully had radiated a quiet happiness that Mulder had never seen before. She was luminous and fierce in her love for William and for him, and determined that they would be safe. There would be no turning back from the path they were on together, the three of them. This was not the life that Mulder had envisioned for them, nor the path to safety that Scully had tried to clear for their child, but it was what it was. They had ten years to do their work, and together, they would keep William safe.

This is a wonderful idea: to recommend post-The Truth fics in honor of the movie. I love this story, too.

it's been quite serendipitous. i'd decided to rec post-Truth fics for my upcoming month in September. then severuslovesme asked if i wanted to swap a month with her because we were each down to rec XF and House fics in the same month, one after the other. so i chose to do XF first. then the mods decided to take off October. then the movie news came out! what a tangled web.

Hi, I am know I am late to the party here, but just letting you know that Anjou *is* working on two other stories, one in the the Ghosts series, and one standalone XF fic.

She's read me the first chapter the Ghosts fic, and I must say, an excellent and intriguing beginning, especially if you like crossovers! :D

It's me comice, aka Anjou. My friend snacky was browsing the recs on the crack_van today and let me know about your rec of "Ghosts". Thanks so much for your very kind words at the top of this entry. I do appreciate them.

As snacky said above, I am working on the 4th Ghosts story, called "Ghosts in the Field". Before I get to that story, however, I have to finish up "A Winter's Tale", which is a post-Two Fathers/One Son S6 story. I'll be posting both of them to anjoufic when they're done.

If I haven't said so before, I'm a big fan of your story "Alchemy", which I think is an excellent example of early-Mulder/Scully UST.

She is continuing it, actually.

The 4th story in the series is called "Ghosts in the Field", and I'll be focusing on it just as soon as I finish up the story I'm working on. You'll be able to find them both on LJ at my fic journal anjoufic.

as one of my favourite XF writers, i'm very excited to hear that you're working on new fics! i have your fic journal friended and will await forthcoming entries as patiently as i can (which, alas, isn't very).

thank you for your kind words about alchemy. i still have all the lovely things you and others said about it saved in my email folder and i read them periodically and blush. once i get through this year's yuletide, i do have one or two other XF fics i'd like to try and write. though i think i could give you a run for your money as the world's slowest fic writer. :)
