Stargate SG1/Highlander

Title: CHANGING OF THE GUARD by Ecolea
Pairing: none
Author on LJ: none
Author Website: http://www.seventh-dimension.com/AuthorEF.shtml (you have to scroll down a bit)

Why this must be read:

This is one of the best crossover stories in the Stargate fandom. The characterization is perfect, Methos isn't made to be more than he is, he is a man, an incredibly old man, but still a man. She also doesn't fall into the trap of sacrificing the rest of the characters to focus on the main ones, which was a refreshing change from some of the other stories out there.

Unfortunately Ecolea took her own life before she finished her series, but that does not mean that you should ignore the rest of the stories, because while they may not be as good as the first in the series, they shine in their own ways.

So sit back, relax and enjoy this truly epic tale.

Unfortunately it would not be the first time that such things happen in fandom, Sentinel has at least 2 people I know of that took their own life :(

I'm always shocked and so depressed after such news *sigh*

Thank you for the rec, I'm off to read it cause Methos and SG-1? It should be good. Do you by any chance have any other such stories?

Wow ... I was just reading along down the page and the "took her own life" really threw me. That's terribly sad when that happens.

I'm not very sure I wanted to know that particular piece of information, frankly. I am feeling sad and a little puzzled. I liked this part a lot and did some looking around and the story is finished, or at least has five parts with a The End at http://xoverfic.com/ I'm guessing more parts were planned... Really, I don't know what to say; the read is supperb.

Ecolea's "Changing of the guard" is really a fantastic crossover, a real classic.
It is still one of my favourits and I could have sworn that I once rec'ed it somewhere, too.
As you said it is a truly epic tale and I love it.
Years ago Ecoleas homepage was suddenly shut down, she dropped of the radar and no sign anywhere in the net. There were rumours that she commited suicide, but there where also dementos saying that that was not true and somethingelse happend to her.
I researched but never could find out the truth.
We will never really know, but one thing is true you can see Ecolea's talent in this series and it remains if we keep the stories alive so copy and safe it :)

I know someone she used to hang out with... she did several attempts, and the last one did succeed.

She also wrote a very, very well done 9/11 Highlander piece called Break the Day.

I have all of her fic I could put my hands on.
