The Sentinel Files by Delilah (R)
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim Ellison/Blair Sandburg
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Gen fic is here, slash here, both at Brothers In Arms
Why this must be read:
This story is a cute, funny XO between TS and The X-Files' excellent-but-short-lived spin-off The Lone Gunmen. It's about what happens when Byers convinces the rest of the Lone Gunmen that Jim Ellison would make an excellent cover story. Unfortunately for them, Jim's life is obviously weird, especially with Naomi Sandburg in town, but not in any way they can use.
Delilah's writing is very conversational and smooth, and she has a wonderful ear for dialog. Here's a sample, from when Blair brings Bond (Jimmy Bond) to the loft:
"Naomi Sandburg. Are you a friend of Jim and Blair’s?"
A sharply drawn intake of air followed which was the usual reaction of most men to finding Naomi Sandburg standing before them in her yoga cat suit. "I’d like to hope so."
"Oh, that’s sweet. And look at you. Your aura is absolutely lovely. Lavender with a flash of blue and just tinge of yellow."
"Doesn’t that clash, Naomi?"

BTW, Delilah doesn't provide a rating. I've estimated it as R-rated because there are graphic references to sex, but maybe 20 words total, and I'd read this to my school-aged children with minimal excising.
