Overnight Sensation by Syntax6 (NC-17)
Fandom: X-FILES
Pairing: Mulder/Scully, a little bit of Mulder/Fowley
Length: Novel-length
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: http://www.omniscribe.com/
Why this must be read:
On the whole, The X-Files isn't known for its realistic depiction of investigative work. One of the things that I love about fanfic is the way that it makes up for that gap, and Syntax6 is the queen of the X-Files police procedural. This story is as good a mystery novel as you could hope to read. A threatening serial killer, suspense, and just enough relationship angst to keep the shippers interested. The thing that I really love about it is the way it doesn't focus too tightly on Mulder and Scully: you really get the sense that there's a whole city out there, with police department, press coverage and all. Great stuff.
