Worth Her Weight by Marguerite (PG)
Fandom: X-FILES
Pairing: None
Length: Shortish story
Author on LJ:
megwriting
Author Website: http://4dw.net/marguerite/
Why this must be read:
There aren't enough good gen Skinner POV stories out there. There aren't enough good post-Fight-the-Future stories either. Happily, this fic fills both of those niches admirably. It draws Skinner as a strong, sympathetic character who is capable of relating to Mulder without shouting, and capable of talking about Scully without pining. With a light narrative touch that is by turns humorous and moving, it answers one of the most important questions left to us by the movie: how on earth did Mulder and Scully get back from Antarctica?
Thinking of him crawling on all fours, alone, through icy tunnels to save his partner makes my chest hurt. Damn the F.B.I., anyway; what does it know about loyalty and compassion?
