Why this must be read: Because it's lengthy, poignant, character-driven Death Note femslash, which gives Sayu a voice and Misa an ending, and it's great. It's the story of Sayu and Misa after Light's death, finding each other and finding themselves, and it's hurty and pretty and human and wonderful; the writing does get a little opaque in parts but it's absolutely tolerable in a nice, meaty story like this one. I love femslash for this fandom, both because, well, I love femslash, haha, and also because it gives the female characters - who undeniably got the shortest end of the shrift in canon - a chance to shine and grow and just, do their thing, which makes me really happy. And this is one of the best examples of Death Note femslash; a classic, really.
