Why this must be read: A genre of Death Note fandom I'm not really going to have much time to get into this month, and would really never be able to explore exhaustively without doing fanart recs (O, the wonders of Death Note fanart!), is crack. Death Note is an intense, thrilling, psychological series that really makes you think, but it also has things like entire plot points hinging on Light taking a potato chip...and...eating it.... Basically, Death Note was made for crack as surely as it was made for deliciously intense plot!fic. And my very favorite crack fic ever ever ever is this one, by

darkeyedwolf, where L decides to communicate with Light over AIM, and Light is a giant spazz. It's amazingly in-character, amazingly hilarious, and just so, so, so much fun.
