Why this must be read
      Lakhesis is one of my favorite authors in any fandom, and I had trouble deciding which story of hers I should rec.  I love time travel fics, so I chose this one. Lakhesis writes wonderfully about the beginnings of a relationship between Severus and Harry, as well as the troubles Harry has with the Marauders. Like many others it has Harry going back to the time of his parents, but more realistically-- hes stuck there with no way home but to wait out the years, and when he finally returns not everyone is happy about it.

Severus seemed confused. "Why hadn't your Potions professor made sure you were competent before now?"

Harry couldn't help the wide grin on his face… Oh, this was a conversation he was writing down for the future, he thought, even if he never got the chance to taunt Snape with it.

"I don't know. He didn't like me much, slight grudge against my father."

Severus nodded in acknowledgement, even while his face showed dissatisfaction with the truth. "That is no excuse."

Harry's grin widened and he looked over at the young man who was fast becoming his best friend here. This was strange.

"Have you ever thought about teaching, Severus?"
