Why this must be read:
Decline and Fall is a beautifully written AU/pre-mini fic that imagines Kara and Lee's first meeting and subsequent doomed attraction. It's richly characterized - Elzed captures Lee's perspective perfectly - lovely, tragic - just awesome. Circumstance is Elly's remix of Decline and Fall, and it completely lives up to the original. Told from Zak's perspective, it depicts him as a fully developed character in his own right, to devastating effect. Both of these can be read independently, but are so much better when read together. Just set aside an hour or so, and probably some Kleenex.
