'Till Human Voices Wake Us, by Little Murmurs (PG-13)

Fandom: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (NEW)
Pairing: nominally Racetrack/Starbuck, but the more interesting pairings are the ones that don't come to fruition
Length: about 6,500 words

Author Website: fic listed here
Why this must be read:This fic was a tough sell with me, as I don't read a lot of BSG femmeslash, and I don't particularly share the general obsession with Racetrack. (I like her fine, don't shoot me!) But it was highly recommended and I'm so glad I gave it a shot. This Racetrack is utterly compelling; snarky, cynical, sharply observant, and it's fascinating to watch the events of the first season and a half unfold through her eyes. The characterizations are spot-on, the dialogue is flawless, and the overall tone fits that of seasons 1-2 Galactica perfectly.

First time she met Kara Thrace was uneventful. Maybe only time that was true.

Helo and Boomer led the way to the rec room, and she was carried along with them, hanging back a little so they could deflect attention away. Curious eyes slid over them and missed her in their shadow. Gave her the first appraisal, which was important. To her, at least.
