Why this must be read:    Because you *know* Jim and Blair have a love that spans the ages ::snickers:: And honestly, don’t you want to read it just for the title alone?

This story starts out with a quote from the Canterbury Tales. Appropriate because Blair is spinning a yarn to amuse his lover:

Mollified, Blair settled into the crook of Jim's arm. "Just because I think we'd have loved each other in any time and any setting, and you asked for an example, that doesn't give you license to poke fun."
"So you're a monk." Jim gave in good-naturedly, inviting Blair to resume his fantasy.
"Yeah." Blair nodded. "An Augustinian Catholic monk, in Ireland, in the Dark Ages. And you're a big buff peasant, working in the monastery fields."
"Friar Blair O'Sandburg, the world's original long-haired gay Jewish Roman Catholic Irish Augustinian monk." Jim felt laughter shaking his chest again. "The Pope is gonna have a fit."
"Fuck historical accuracy. I'm no medievalist historian. Just shut up and let me tell the story."
"Make it a good one, Chief. Danger, intrigue, forbidden passion."

And so there is. Blair is a monk during the Dark Ages, not because of faith but as a way to learn to read and write. Nevertheless, he has accepted the monastic life, until that “big buff peasant” catches his eye and makes him rethink his priorities. An unexpected summer storm throws them together and fuels Brother Blair’s fantasies.  Throw in a zone-out, which the authorities might view as demonic possession, and Brother Blair must provide revival and enlightenment.  James provides the lube!
