Why this must be read: I've never been a fan of Krycek slash, because somehow, I never believe that anything good can come out of it. I'm somewhat a romantic so happy ever after is not something I associate with him. But there are some out that make me want to believe that it could actually happen to Alex. Like Jessica Harris' Lexicon.

Words escape me in trying to describe how wonderful this story is. Alex finds himself saved from a life of alienation when he finds connection with his former boss. The use of language and communication as a metaphor for connection and love is beautifully executed, written in words that are simple yet so evocative.

An example of which is this passage where Alex talks about his relationship with Walter:

And this is a language of a kind I've never had to learn before, the
language we speak just between us. Looks and touches and all the things that
most people take for granted. I think I've learned it pretty well, all
things considered.
