The Heart Hath its Reasons by Merry (PG-13)

Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: None
Length: ~71,000 words

Why this must be read:

This is a great read that examines what it really means to be a Shaman. It's not just about being a guide to a Sentinel and seeing spirit animals, there are other things involved. Merry examines these ideas based around a case the gang is working on, and makes sure to include most of our favorite characters.

I absolutely agree. So often the two terms are lumped in together in a story. This examines not only the power, but the responsibility and the cost. And Merry writes so intelligently and well.

Great rec! Thank you.

And, it has one of my favorite passages in Sentinel fan fiction:

"It was exactly what had happened when the two of them met for the first time -- Jim putting up walls and defenses and Blair sailing past them like he didn't even notice. Jim Ellison was a practical man. When it became clear there was no keeping him out, Jim just rebuilt the walls with Blair on the inside."

Just sort of . . . sums it all up for me. :-)
