"It's not him, it's me?" says Justin loudly. "Your son is an *asshole*," he says and he starts to put the phone down when he hears her say his name urgently. "What?" he snaps, and his mom is gonna kick his *ass* when she hears about this, which she will, and Justin will deserve it. "Sorry," he says.

"Yeah, okay, Justin? It's *you*," she says, like that will mean anything but that Chris is an asshole. "It's you and he's not going to say something important to you if he can't look you in the eye."

Oh, thinks Justin. "He ran away."

"Yeah, well, he got an earful over that piece of brilliance."

"Oh," says Justin. "Thanks?"

"You're welcome," she says.
