Why this must be read:
This story is a prequel to Male Enhancement (The Soul and the Company Store Remix), which has already been recc'd on crack_van. But where that story is exclusively focused on John and Rodney, this story is about what happened to John and Cam as they grew up. It's solid character study stuff, told from Lorne's perspective, and through him, we see them first as 'brave little toasters', and latter as robotic dogs, and rough-and-tumble young boys. But Evan can't protect them from everything bad that happens in life, and eventually, even robot boys have to grow up...
